Career Monday: Work-life balance

Happy new week! Do you sometimes feel that you are struggling between being productive at work and still wanting to attend to all your life needs? We share some tips that will help improve your work-life balance.

  1. There is no ‘perfect’ work-life balance: The ideal work-life balance may seem like being super productive at work and still being able to be spend time with friends and family as you wish. This is however not a realistic approach, as sometimes you need to put in more hours in your work and other times more in time spent with family, friends even pursuing your hobbies. It is therefore important to be honest with yourself and ask what is a priority at the time and then fully focus on that and be present.
  2. Find a job that you are passionate about: When you love what you do, it most often doesn’t feel like work to you. Yes, you will definitely need to put in the hours for you be successful but because you already are passionate about what you do, you have the motivation to do it.
  3. Make rest a priority: It is important to take care of your body; to rest and rejuvenate. If you need to go off social media for a while, then do so. Your physical, spiritual mental and emotional health is very important and when you are feeling great then you will definitely be productive.
  4. Create time for family and loved ones: In as much as work is important and we spend a huge chunk of our time doing it; it is vital to spend time with the ones we love. Always remember that you still have control of your time, no matter how hectic your schedule is and you should carve out time for the things that make you happy.
  5. Set goals and priorities: It is very important to write down your goals and follow through them. Setting time-bound goals that are achievable enables you to accomplish so much. Avoid distractions as they eat up into time that should be spend doing what is important.

Have a productive week ahead!

Scripture Sunday: Celebrating growth

Happy Sunday! We are a work in progress, continually being changed into what God has called us to be. We therefore should celebrate our growth; what God is doing in our lives. It is important to slow down and see the progress we have made, whether it’s making improvements in an area we asked God to help us in, more financial and material provision etc. Life is a journey, it is vital to enjoy and appreciate the process as much as we are excited about the destination. Being grateful and focusing on the positive things in life, regardless of the challenges is the best way to stay on track. Let us not be blinded by life’s challenges that we don’t see what God is doing in our lives. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 -“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer: Thank you Lord for continually transforming my life. Help me to focus on growth and always be positive and ever grateful. I believe you have great plans for my life and I trust you to guide me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Our Favourite 2022 interior decor trends

How are you this Friday? Here are some top interior décor trends that we fancy this 2022.

  1. Shades of brown: Brown is major this year, with chocolate brown being a favourite. You can mix pillows of different shades of brown or even paint an accent wall. Mixing brown with neutrals such as white looks absolutely gorge as well as contrasting with earth colours such as green.

2. Nature-inspired surfaces: Rock, raw wooden finishings and indoor plants are trending in 2022. The inorganic shapes and textures make us feel one with nature, having spent a lot of time indoors thanks to the pandemic. Nature is very calming and relaxing as well. Using wallpaper with plant prints as well as decorating the home with real or faux plants, helps bring nature into our houses.

3. Fancy outdoor furniture: Much thought is now being put on outdoor seating as more people are entertaining at home. With the pandemic, we’ve also seen more intimate events happening at home as opposed to going out.

4. Dual-purpose rooms: Thanks to working from home, we’ve seen a corner of the living room or bedroom being converted to a workspace. Indoor workouts have also become popular with spaces of the home being converted to gyms.

5. Local artwork: With the appreciation of art, many households now embrace art pieces in their home, therefore, supporting local talent.

Financial Freedom: Tips to help you get there

Happy Monday and happy last day of the month, can you believe February is over! Today we are all about financial freedom: having enough savings, financial investments, and cash on hand to afford the kind of life we desire for ourselves as well as our families. So how do we go about it?

  1. Budget: This goes without saying, making a budget helps to plan for all needs to be catered for. It enables you be aware of expenditure, helping you to prioritize what is important rather than spending lavishly on not-so-important things. It also gives you direction in answering the following questions; “what should I cut on, do I need to make more money, what do I need to invest in? etc”

2. Do your research and bargain: It is always important to do your research whether you are buying an asset or everyday necessities. You will save so much when you compare prices and ask for the best deal. Buying in bulk is also a great way to make the most of your money.

3. Pay debt: Taking a loan may feel like a relief but paying it back can be a challenge sometimes. It may be tempting to stretch the amount of time required to pay the loan but the truth is, the total amount you’ll pay afterward will be much more if you take your time. Clear debt as quickly as you can.

4. Live below your means: It is very important to be frugal; purchasing responsibly and being a great steward of what you own. This however doesn’t mean that you live with bare minimum or that you shouldn’t enjoy what you have. Be honest with yourself and get what you need; it is not as difficult as it sometimes seems. Also taking good care of what you have will increase longevity; maintaining something costs a fraction of the cost of replacing it.

5. Invest: This is a great way to multiply your money. Whether it’s in business, bonds, stocks, investing is the best way to grow your money. Do your research and find out what works best for you.
