Happy Monday and happy last day of the month, can you believe February is over! Today we are all about financial freedom: having enough savings, financial investments, and cash on hand to afford the kind of life we desire for ourselves as well as our families. So how do we go about it?
- Budget: This goes without saying, making a budget helps to plan for all needs to be catered for. It enables you be aware of expenditure, helping you to prioritize what is important rather than spending lavishly on not-so-important things. It also gives you direction in answering the following questions; “what should I cut on, do I need to make more money, what do I need to invest in? etc”
2. Do your research and bargain: It is always important to do your research whether you are buying an asset or everyday necessities. You will save so much when you compare prices and ask for the best deal. Buying in bulk is also a great way to make the most of your money.
3. Pay debt: Taking a loan may feel like a relief but paying it back can be a challenge sometimes. It may be tempting to stretch the amount of time required to pay the loan but the truth is, the total amount you’ll pay afterward will be much more if you take your time. Clear debt as quickly as you can.
4. Live below your means: It is very important to be frugal; purchasing responsibly and being a great steward of what you own. This however doesn’t mean that you live with bare minimum or that you shouldn’t enjoy what you have. Be honest with yourself and get what you need; it is not as difficult as it sometimes seems. Also taking good care of what you have will increase longevity; maintaining something costs a fraction of the cost of replacing it.
5. Invest: This is a great way to multiply your money. Whether it’s in business, bonds, stocks, investing is the best way to grow your money. Do your research and find out what works best for you.
