Hey y’all! Here is a yummy pilau recipe, fun to make and delish. Enjoy!
Ingredients
250g beef, chopped and pre-cooked
500g basmati rice
Oil for frying
3 onions, chopped
3 medium sized potatoes
1 bulb garlic, crushed
1/2 ginger, crushed
1 tablespoon pilau masala
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon basil
35g tomato paste
Water
Salt to taste
Method
- In a pan, shallow fry the onions for about 10 minutes till slightly brown.
- Add in the meat and stir.
- Add in the garlic and ginger and lower the heat to prevent the spices from burning.
- Add in two tablespoons of water and let the meat soak in the juices.
- Add in the tomato paste, pilau masala, potatoes and stir.
- Add in a little water to prevent sticking.
- Add in more hot water to cook the potatoes for 5 minutes till al dente. Ensure the water is hot so as not to slow down the cooking process.
- Add in the rice and 1 litre of water and stir.
- Add in the basil and cumin and cook for 15 minutes, first on medium heat to simmer and then on low heat.
- Serve with banana.
